What is the EB-5 Program?

Investment Amount
EB-5 visa applicants are required to make either a $900,000 or $1,800,000 capital investment into a U.S. commercial enterprise with the investment remaining at-risk throughout the applicant’s immigration process.
In order to qualify for the lower $900,000 investment amount, the EB-5 project must qualify for Targeted Employment Area, or TEA, designation by either being in a rural area or an area with high unemployment.
Job Creation Requirements
The USCIS requires that EB-5 investments result in the creation of 10 qualifying jobs lasting for a period of two years.
EB-5 Regional Center Investment
Instead of investing into a direct EB-5 project and having to manage the day-to-day tasks involved with managing a business, the Regional Center EB-5 Model establishes an investment fund on behalf of the EB-5 investors to pool funds together into a specific project. As an example investment method, the EB-5 Investors purchase equity stakes in a fund which then loans the job-creating entity (the project) capital. The job creating entity then uses the capital from the fund to create jobs on behalf of the EB-5 investors to achieve their USCIS job creation requirements.
